For the Future square on my Reccer's Bingo card.

Title: All Your Beliefs
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] Doyle / [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4
Rating: General
Word Count/Length/Size: 2k words
Creator's Summary: The key became part of the story, of course. The Doctor leaves more than just Susan behind.
Characters/Pairings: Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright/Ian Chesterton
Warnings/Notes: Major character death

Reasons for reccing: An interesting diversion from canon (starting notice an interesting pattern here). It's beautifuly written.

Title: The Wright Stuff
Creator: Tim Pieraccini (he has a Twitter account, [twitter.com profile] tjpieraccini)
Rating: none given, I would say Teen and Up
Word Count/Length/Size: around 134k words
Creator's Summary: This began life as a Doctor Who idea. That’s not how it ended up. There is some Doctor Who content, but those looking for much evidence of the Doctor himself will be disappointed. Those interested in a slightly different take on the early years of Who and a view of the universe that is considerably older than the 745 years the Hartnell Doctor was supposed to carry might find the book interesting. (If nothing else, you could test your knowledge of sixties culture on the chapter headings; they’re all song titles or lyrics or film titles from ’67 or before. There is a note at the end to identify them for anyone who cares, but I’d advise against reading it beforehand if you wish to avoid a fairly major spoiler towards the end.)

Oh, and about the title. I know. It was a working title, and it kind of stuck. Be grateful; I did consider calling it "Barbara Cutaway".
Characters/Pairings: Barbara Wright, original characters, Ian Chesterton (cameo)
Warnings/Notes: character death, mentions of adult situations and minor sexuality, and 1960s-isms.

Reasons for reccing: It's dense, very interesting, and long. Your main (original) character is a bit of a prick who wants to be an author, and slowly gets to know a mysterious older woman who may or may not have met aliens (and is very esoteric). Guess who that woman is. Don't think I've ever read anything like it.
Also it took me years to find it in full.

Title: Doctor Who and the Pub of Almost Certain Doom
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] Doyle
Rating: General
Word Count/Length/Size: 7674 words
Creator's Summary: Having parted company with the Master, the Doctor's keen to reconnect with an old friend. But who could the village pub's mysterious new landlord possibly be, and what does he want...?
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (Lumely)/The Master (Pryce), Emma (Fatal Death), Ninth Doctor (Fatal Death), Tenth Doctor (Fatal Death), Eleventh Doctor (Fatal Death), Twelfth Doctor (Fatal Death)
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: This takes the silliness of Fatal Death with the seriousness of normal Doctor Who. It's a ridiculous plot by the Master and equally ridiculous solution from the Doctor. And some lovely friendship bits with Emma and the Doctor(s). She's a great character in this.

Title: How the Life Goes On
Creator: Doyle
Rating: All Ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 3342 words
Creator's Summary: “Of all the flowerbeds in all the gardens in all of South-East England, you had to end up in mine.”
Characters/Pairings: Sarah Jane Smith, Tenth Doctor
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: It's amusing the way Sarah and K9 get on and deal with things like putting the kettle on. And then the Doctor is funny about poking into everything in Sarah's house. And then there's Sarah's ambivalence about the Doctor and travelling with him.

Title: Entangled
Creator: Doyle
Rating: All ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 2103
Creator's Summary: Right, then. Adam Mitchell, this is your life.
Characters/Pairings: Adam Mitchell, Mickey Smith, The Doctor (9th)
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: Another for my seasonal "Companions that Never Were" theme. Adam Mitchell is the black sheep of New Who almost-companions, the one who should never have been given a chance to travel with the Doctor, and blew it the first time out. This is the aftermath

Another entry for my bingo card: "tiny but perfect."

Title: Untitled Martha fic
Creator: [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4
Rating: All Ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 237
Creator's Summary: AU where John Smith died in Human Nature, as requested by... er, no one. Let's pretend I requested it, okay?
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones, One
Warnings/Notes: none

Reasons for reccing: I swore I'd find an actual, 100-word drabble for this entry -- and while I didn't, I found something that still easily fits the "tiny but perfect" bill. If you've never read anything in [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha's 1,000 Drabbles of Awesome challenge, you missed an amazing project where fic authors banded together to write 1,000 drabbles/short stories about how truly amazing Martha Jones was -- and did it in under two months. This one is particularly affecting: Martha has lived a full life stranded in her past, but the sight of the TARDIS and a brief conversation with its current occupant are still enough to bring old and cherished memories to the surface. (If you feel moved to leave a comment, even 11 years (!) after the story was posted, please do so in the cheering section.)
