Creator's Summary (“Creator’s summary” in bold): Not!fic: The Keeper has perma-locked entry Rayla's TARDIS for editing. (Reason: i've had enough of this. i thought time lords were supposed to be above fairy tales, anyway?)

Not!vid: "Rayla’s TARDIS" (also known as "Rayla and his TARDIS") is a traditional folk song and cautionary tale, catalogued as ballad 423 in the Pythian Index and number 2996 in the Mirraflex Folk Archive. More information can be found at its entry within the Matrix. Any melodic resemblance to the Earth ballad 'Johnny O'Braidesley' is, of course, entirely coincidental.

Pairings/Characters (“Pairings/Characters” in bold): Original Time Lords, Original TARDIS

Warnings/Notes (“Warnings/Notes” in bold): Death

Reasons for reccing (“Reasons for reccing” in bold): I’m submitting this for lurking_latinist’s “unconventional fanworks” request, along with the “fanvids” theme at [community profile] fancake. This is a recording of a Gallifreyan folk ballad that Kitty wrote, and a “Maxrixpedia” article about it. The article is extremely funny, especially the talk page, and the ballad itself is performed very well.

Creator's Summary (“Creator’s summary” in bold): The Game of Rassilon is one of those “actual-play” podcasts, except instead of playing D&D or Pathfinder we’re playing Doctor Who: The Roleplaying Game by Cubicle 7. Telling stories with a unique Doctor exploring time and space with a crew of unlikely companions, with an emphasis on great stories and, we hope, big laughs.
Pairings/Characters (“Pairings/Characters” in bold): Original Doctor, original companions (Travis Killian, Carrie Vu, and Lita), Literally Amelia Earhart, Original Romana
Warnings/Notes (“Warnings/Notes” in bold): Violence at about the same level as the show throughout, temporary major character death. A lot of warnings that I can think of only apply to a few serials so if you need/want additional warnings let me know and I’ll tell you.
Reasons for reccing (“Reasons for reccing” in bold): I’m submitting this for the “Other Doctors” theme and [personal profile] lurking_latinist ’s “unconventional fanworks” request. This is a really great podcast, it’s pretty silly at the beginning but becomes more serious and plotty as it goes on, though the jokes never stop entirely. All the players are great and bounce off each other well, and it’s obvious that they enjoy playing together. Season 4 started on June 1, so it’s a great time to get caught up.

“I’ve missed you so much.”

“I’ve missed you too, my dear.”

Characters/Pairing: Susan Foreman & Twelfth Doctor
Warnings/Notes:

Reasons for reccing: I love these photos and how they work together to tell a story with the first couple being their awkward meeting and then the last couple being their true reunion as they hug each other. I really wish the Twelfth Doctor had gotten to meet Susan and these cosplay photos do a great job of creating that meeting

Creator's Summary: Hello everyone! Today I present my new creation inspired by Doctor Who. Note that I have deliberately taken no chords to melodies of the soundtrack by Murray Gold :) Tell me what you think!
Characters/Pairing: None
Warnings/Notes: -

Reasons for reccing: This is an absolutely beautiful song that perfectly captures the dynamic of Doctor Who. It’s wonderful, mystical, and adventurous. It has a very Fairy Tale-esque vibe.

Creator: Cosplayer: [tumblr.com profile] schpog-play, [instagram.com profile] schpog_play
Photographer, Editer, etc.: [tumblr.com profile] glasmond-photography, [instagram.com profile] kurvenliebe.fotografie
Rating: G
Word Count/Length/Size: 10 photos
Creator's Summary: Schpog and I spontaneously decided to make a shoot after we saw the New Years Special yesterday, because Jodie’s just so amazing in that episode! I made Schpogs hair and make up (which actually was the most time consuming part!) and then we took some pictures at 4 AM or so I’m so excited for the outcome!
Characters/Pairing: Thirteenth Doctor
Warnings/Notes: Spyfall, no spoilers just Thirteen in the Suit

Reasons for reccing: This is an absolute amazing photoshoot. The cosplayer looks remarkably similar to Jodie Whittaker (I’m assuming some editing was done to help highlight the resemblance) and the cosplayer does a fantastic job of exuding the personality of the Thirteenth Doctor. The photographer is really superb and I love their use of lighting and their editing because it creates this almost fairy tale ethereal aura for the Doctor. Really great!

Title: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Creator: Jaspreet Singh
Rating: G
Word Count/Length/Size: 13:30 minutes
Creator's Summary: "Due to an unknown power drain of the TARDIS which has left the Doctor stranded within the time vortex, she'll soon realize that her last is catching up with her… quite literally."
Characters/Pairing: Thirteenth Doctor, Third Doctor
Warnings/Notes: N/A

Reasons for reccing: I've never listened to any kind of audio drama fanwork before, but I'm really glad I decided to give this one a chance. The voice work is really great! The voice actors for the Doctor do a terrific job of crafting their characters with just their voices and acting. The story is very classic Doctor Who and is a lot of fun.

Title: Sorry
Creator: Twitter: @ChrisWalkerT/ Youtube: Chris Walker-Thomson
Rating: Not sure - please read the warnings & info below.
Word Count/Length/Size: 15 minutes
Creator's Summary: On a cold Christmas Eve, James C Ellis stands on a bridge alone, until he is joined by a scruffy-looking peculiar man...
Characters/Pairings: The Second Doctor
Warnings/Notes: Deals with themes of suicide.

Reasons for reccing: This is stunning. It's a 15 min, fan made audio story (that basically sounds as professional as Big Finish) about the Second Doctor coming across a suicidal man on Christmas Eve. The actor who wrote/produced/starred in it drew from his own experiences with depression, so it's a tough listen, and probably not for everyone. But it's a beautiful, moving, and ultimately hopeful story about fighting the 'monsters' within.

Today's prompt bingo fill (card) is for the first row, fourth column prompt 'battle/struggle'.

Title:
"Candle flames in windless air"
Creator: deepandlovelydark
Rating: Teen and up audiences
Word Count/Length/Size: ...depends on how long you're willing to spend playing, really. It kept me entertained for hours, personally.
Creator's Summary: So you've spent the last fortnight hitchhiking around rugged bits of the Nevada desert, and while it's been fun and all, you'd rather like your time machine back now.
Text adventure remix of "Heaven Sent", with new twists and turns along the way...
Characters/Pairings: Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswin Oswald, many others to discover
Warnings/Notes: Major Character Death, any other content warnings that you could potentially apply to 'Heaven Sent'.

Reasons for reccing: Sometimes you just find something so very strikingly unusual and wonderful on the internet, and that thing is a lovingly-crafted, meticulously put together, fully functional text adventure adaptation of one of your favorite Doctor Who stories of all time. And if you're thinking right now that it doesn't sound like a very interesting thing to play because you've watched the episode already and know how it ends, I would very much advise you to think again. It may take you a while to get the hang of the controls, but once you do, you'll be plunged into a rich, hilariously Doctor-ish world in which you play as the Twelfth Doctor, trying to escape from the Confession Dial. And there are many, many ways to do that - not just the solution that was presented in the episode actual.

There are so many things you can do in this game. I can pretty much guarantee that any reasonable command you type into the game will come back with a response of some sort (and some unreasonable commands too!), and every line is delivered in pitch-perfect Twelve voice, with that sarcastic humor that we've all come to know and love. You can play your guitar, attempt to kiss the Veil (key word: attempt), talk to Clara - die again, and again, and again, and again... Reaching the ending and getting that perfect score of 2178308 is very satisfying indeed. I advise you strongly to try it for yourself - you'll be surprised, I think, at how widely you'll be grinning.

Of course (as I mentioned before) there are many other ways to escape the Dial, some of which are unbelievably creative in nature. It is possible to get Iris Wildthyme, among other people, to break you out - although I won't tell you how, exactly. My favorite ending that I've achieved so far is the one involving Compassion, and I won't say any more about that either, apart from mentioning that it involves a rather tricky choice that the Doctor needs to make.

This is how a Doctor Who video game should be - vast, weaving, and deliciously entertaining no matter how many times you play. It obviously took the creator a very long time to put together, so I'm just about begging you at this point to give it a play and then let them know what you thought of it.

Recs bingo! Here is my card and this is my top-right-corner fill for the prompt: Tea. And well, what else can I rec here, really, but this?

Title: The Doctor Who Adagio Tea Collection
Creator: Sami Kelsh ([livejournal.com profile] doctorpancakes)
Rating: General Audiences
Creator's Summary: Oh my giddy aunt. Interesting things and exciting times seem to happen everywhere the TARDIS goes. This collection of teas is inspired by the Doctor(s) and his companions, adventurers in time and space.
Characters/Pairings: Many many Doctor Who characters, paired with specialty tea blends.
Warnings: none, unless maybe you can't handle caffeine.

Reasons for reccing: If you take the two most British things you can think of and blend them together... well you get this wonderful collection, steeped in UK cultural traditions and arising from the creative mind of a Canadian ex-pat and writer/illustrator. Sami ([livejournal.com profile] doctorpancakes, here is her Tea tag on livejournal but there are more varieties on the Adagio site) has put together a thoughtful and inventive tea collection for Doctors, companions, villains, one-off characters and monsters across the whole continuum of the Whoniverse. For example, did you know there's a tea ingredient called "gunpowder"? Well, you can bet it's part of Ace McShane's blend. And Five? Caramel, almond and cream of course, for that perfect beige color with a caffeine kick to get stuff done.

Not only that, Sami gives each blend its own custom original artwork and description, with an added review to tell you more about each one ("The combination of tastes and aromas wakes up your whole mouth: peppermint cools the top of the palette like a smooth, sibilant vapour, flanked by whispers of tart hibiscus, then a lingering dark green, lightly smoky astringency that intensifies when served cold."--Ice Warriors), and sometimes a video review. It's a total feast for the senses, but don't take my word for it; you can actually order the teas and leave a review for yourself if you find one that fits your fancy. And even if you don't like tea, you will certainly enjoy perusing this collection for the wonderful art, clever descriptions, videos and reviews from fellow Whovian tea-philes.
