Creator's Summary: A tribute to William Hartnell & his first companions: Susan, Barbara & Ian with the song 'Hallelujah'.
Characters/Pairings: First Doctor, Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: It's a short but haunting look at the first three serials, given the song it's set to.

Creator's Summary: Susan really doesn’t think the Doctor should be her chaperone at the Beatles concert.
Characters/Pairings: Sixth Doctor, Susan Foreman
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: It's a lovely story between the two of them talking about music and their opinions of it. And then an amusing ending at the concert.

Title: Doctor Who - The Daleks (1963) (Creepy Fan Trailer)
Creator: cbatt91337
Rating: None given
Word Count/Length/Size: 1:59
Creator's Summary: Featuring the original music by Tristram Cary with additional music by the Audio Machine, this is a trailer for William Hartnell's' second story and the Daleks first.
Characters/Pairings: First Doctor, Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton, Barbara Wright
Warnings/Notes: None given, but there is quite a bit of flashing images in it

Reasons for reccing: It's a really creepy and make the serial look like it's a creepy atmospheric, excitingly paced set of episodes. Which it probably was in the 60s, but this gives us a flavour of how it might have felt to people watching it for the first time when it was first broadcast. It certainly made me really want to re-watch it.

 Title: Beyond the Veil
Creator: AceOnGallifrey
Rating: All Ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 1827
Creator's Summary: The Tenth Doctor discovers that his song isn't ending: it's just leaving to join in a greater melody, above and beyond death itself. Oneshot of various pairings and much joy.
Characters/Pairings: Ace McShane, Donna Noble, Grace Holloway, Jamie McCrimmon, Jo Grant, Peri Brown, River Song, Romana II, Rose Tyler, Susan Foreman, The Doctor (10th), The Doctor (11th), The Doctor (1st), The Doctor (2nd), The Doctor (3rd), The Doctor (4th), The Doctor (5th), The Doct
Warnings/Notes: None (though this is a sort-of Crossover with Young Wizards by Diane Duane)

Reasons for reccing: I recently remembered this fic, and reread it.  And it is one of the most stunning, beautiful things.  Everything is very vivid and detailed and a nice ending for Ten. With a bunch of little cameos.

Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] patrexes and [ff.net profile] Shrrgnien ([archiveofourown.org profile] mylordshesacactus)
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count/Length/Size: 2,035 words
Creator's Summary:

Alone and afraid, Clara and the TARDIS share the most precious memory in all of time and space.

Meanwhile, Theta Sigma is kind of a dick.

Characters/Pairings: Doctor/TARDIS; various Doctors, Clara Oswald, Susan Foreman
Warnings/Notes: author tags "Xenophobia"; author's tags also include "Canon Backstory, All Three of Them! All at Once!" and "Two and Jamie Show Up For About Three Seconds It's a Thing"

Reasons for reccing: For Doctor/TARDIS in the Claim a Ship Seasonal Challenge.

Clara and the TARDIS are arguing and in danger, and the ship tries to communicate by sharing some of her memories. Most importantly, how she got herself stolen. The younger First Doctor and Susan are very well portrayed--I especially love the Doctor's combination of awe and panic about bonding with his ship--and Clara's perspective (not knowing what she's seeing, but plenty of opinions) is a really interesting way to approach it.

Characters/Pairings:
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing:
Happy New Year! This is a wonderful read. Sometimes it's nice to see the Doctors helping in small ways: like here just making sure someone in need can make it through the night.  Everyone is IC and it has just that right bit of heartwarming (and bittersweetness)

Title: First Doctor Era | Gone, Gone, Gone
Creator: [youtube.com profile] relative-dimension-in-space
Rating: All ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 3.29
Creator's Summary: Happy to present my first ever video! I've wanted to make them for years now and finally have the means to. The First Doctor era of Doctor Who is an easy place for me to start because I know it like the back of my hand and it's uncomplicated to edit - I'll definitely be attempting more intensive edits in the future, but I'm very happy to start here with something I love so much. I've wished a video to this song existed for a long time and it's exciting to actually get to see it now that I've done it! Hope you enjoy :)
Characters/Pairings: First Doctor, Ian Chesterton, Barbara Wright, Susan Foreman, Vicki, Steven Taylor, Katarina, Sara Kingdom, Dodo Chaplet, Polly Wright, Ben Jackson.
Warnings/Notes: One brief broken/flashing cut towards the end.

Reasons for reccing: YT dropped this into my feed and I was instantly charmed - it's a really sweet and heart-warming whole era vid for the First Doctor. It's very well done, the song choice works beautifully and the found family celebratory vibe is threaded with the minor note of One's losses. I've not come across anything like this ensemble tribute for this era before, or certainly not so well done, and I've already watched it about six times.

Characters/Pairings: Susan Foreman
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: This is a short, but beautifully sad piece about Susan and how she feels about her life on Earth after The Dalek Invasion of Earth. I'm reccing this for 1964, since that's when that serial was broadcast.

Title: The Wright Stuff
Creator: Tim Pieraccini (he has a Twitter account, [twitter.com profile] tjpieraccini)
Rating: none given, I would say Teen and Up
Word Count/Length/Size: around 134k words
Creator's Summary: This began life as a Doctor Who idea. That’s not how it ended up. There is some Doctor Who content, but those looking for much evidence of the Doctor himself will be disappointed. Those interested in a slightly different take on the early years of Who and a view of the universe that is considerably older than the 745 years the Hartnell Doctor was supposed to carry might find the book interesting. (If nothing else, you could test your knowledge of sixties culture on the chapter headings; they’re all song titles or lyrics or film titles from ’67 or before. There is a note at the end to identify them for anyone who cares, but I’d advise against reading it beforehand if you wish to avoid a fairly major spoiler towards the end.)

Oh, and about the title. I know. It was a working title, and it kind of stuck. Be grateful; I did consider calling it "Barbara Cutaway".
Characters/Pairings: Barbara Wright, original characters, Ian Chesterton (cameo)
Warnings/Notes: character death, mentions of adult situations and minor sexuality, and 1960s-isms.

Reasons for reccing: It's dense, very interesting, and long. Your main (original) character is a bit of a prick who wants to be an author, and slowly gets to know a mysterious older woman who may or may not have met aliens (and is very esoteric). Guess who that woman is. Don't think I've ever read anything like it.
Also it took me years to find it in full.

Characters/Pairings: Ian Chesterton/Barbara Wright, Susan Foreman

Reasons for reccing: It's "Aliens Made Us Do It"! But it's not the "it" you were expecting. I love trope subversion and characters talking feelings to one another, and this one is *chef's kiss*. Also the ending is very funny.

Characters/Pairings: First Doctor, Ian Chesterton, Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright

Word Count/Length/Size: 3144 words

Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: Because it's funny. It has a trending theme, which leads to the reveal of how the First Doctor ended up with that ulster. Despite it all being from Gilbert or Sullivan's point of view, you can still tell which Doctors and companions are which from what they do and how their clothing is described.

Characters/Pairings: Ian Chesterton/Barbara Wright, Susan Foreman, First Doctor
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: Aliens made us do it is my second favourite trope. My favourite is subverting/changing it in some way. I've re-read this fic many times because I really love it. It's interesting to see how Barbara and Ian deal with the situation they're in and their feelings about it. Title: Bright Star
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] eponymous_rose
Rating: Teen
Word Count/Length/Size: 7572 words
Creator's Summary: Marshellian Paston's Fifteenth Theorem of Time Travel states that any two persons travelling through time are slightly more likely to meet from a probabilistic standpoint, within a margin of error described by a hypercube with complex dimensions; Ian, Barbara and Sarah Jane Smith give Marshellian Paston something to write home about.
Characters/Pairings: Ian Chesterton/Barbara Wright, Sarah Jane Smith, Susan Foreman, First Doctor, Third Doctor, Harry Sullivan, Luke Smith
Warnings/Notes: None

Reasons for reccing: It's a companions meeting story with a twist. Because it's in reverse order it makes it interesting as Sarah knows more about Ian and Barbara to start with and later Ian and Barbara know more about Sarah. It involves exactly the sort of adventures you expect from people travelling with the Doctor. And it's just beautifully written. Everyone's perfectly in character and there's some lovely description to set the tone.
