Reasons for reccing: I want to rec this fic for the “Rumour Has It” monthly theme because of how it explores the Doctor’s character from the perspective of Jack’s second-hand, legendary knowledge of Time Lords and of the War. It’s also about Jack’s character arc, and how his view of the Doctor changes as he learns more about both the Doctor and himself. I love stories where characters have their expectations of each other subverted, and this is very much one of those, in a tremendously hopeful and thoughtful way. Oh, and there’s also a great action plot!

Reasons for reccing: This is set after "Journey's End" and therefore Donna and Martha have a very different starting point with each other, which is a fascinating imbalance at the start of their relationship. It ends up being a fix-it for Donna, but before it comes to that, I completely love her POV, the way she gets to know Martha and herself and at the same times feels that something isn't quite right. The build-up throughout is just great, and I love the Jack and Wilf cameos.
I initially found the fic through the podfic version, which I'm reccing here as well, because Sophinisba is a great reader and very easy to listen to.

Reasons for reccing: Note: Spoilers for the Timeless Children. It's a look at the Doctor dealing with the effects of sensory deprivation--specifically time sensitivity sensory deprivation--after being rescued from an interminable amount of time in solitary confinement. I like it for the depiction of an alien time sense in understandable and relatable ways, for the relationship between the Doctor and the TARDIS, and for the stark vulnerability we see in Thirteen who has gone through an ordeal and knows what she needs but is terrified of it at the same time. There isn't much here that dwells on the Timeless Child arc in particular (I wasn't much of a fan of it) but what is there is sharp and sad and used to good effect. The Doctor's sometimes-strained relationship with Jack Harkness is also really well realized as well, and I'm glad to see it end on a hopeful note.

The story captures his POV very well and I really like the "twenty things" structure, giving us twenty different scenes and several small appearances by other characters.

Reasons for reccing: I'm a sucker for "Twelfth Doctor Apology Tour" fics where he goes around fixing all the things that his previous selves did wrong, and this is a good example of that kind of fic with the Doctor visiting many of his past companions (both modern and classic) while he's stuck in Bristol. The ending may or may not have made me tear up a bit.
