This is a reccing community for Doctor Who in all its incarnations, spin-offs, Extended Universe etc. etc.

Members may rec any type of fanwork at any time, although there will also be monthly themes and seasonal challenges, plus requests.

Rules
1. Be civil and respectful to other community members & no bashing of characters, pairings, fanworks, or creators. No hatespeech or harassment is allowed. (Attempts at galactic domination will also be severely frowned upon.)

2. Works recced must be posted publicly at the time of reccing (i.e. not posted to a locked journal etc.). You may rec works archive-locked to AO3, but please note that in the header info of your rec. Please do not rec works in progress, and no self recs. One user may post a max of 2 posts to the comm per day.

What makes a good fanwork is a very subjective subject, but at base line, please ensure that all your recs are complete and generally comprehensible/accessible as appropriate to the medium. (i.e. formatted & punctuated etc.; in the case of podfic, vids etc., that they are visible/audible, with working streaming/downloading links (at time of reccing); and that artworks are finished, visible, & recognisable as the subject etc.) If reccing a crossover/fusion, it should contain recognisable DW-related content/characters.

3. Works may be recced more than once (although please try to vary things up where you can and avoid repeating recs within a short period of time - you can use the tags to check whether or not something has already been recced).

4. You must include some sort of 'blurb' as to why you are reccing the work, however brief. Please include any relevant warnings/content notes in the header template provided, particularly when linking directly to a work without any header/equivalent info. (i.e. spoilers, physical triggers in vids, noting topics that may be triggery - abuse, death, racism/bigotry, non-con etc. Please don't warn for slash/het/femslash etc. or specific pairings/characters.)

Title: History can't be changed

Reasons for reccing: This is a great example of why the historicals are good - it tells me a little about a period in history and gives me an impetus to learn more. Plus it's also interesting to see Barbara here, knowing what's going to happen and understanding why she can't change history, unlike in The Aztecs.

Title: The Annoyances of the Future being Reliant on the Doctor's Pet

How long, and what was the inciting incident?"

Or, Missy is trapped in a time loop with one Clara Oswald, and neither are particularly pleased with this fact.

Reasons for reccing: It's a really interesting time loop - much longer than you generally get when you think of the trope - which makes it fun. And it's also Missy being Missy and being annoyed with Clara, which is fun.

Reasons for reccing: for the theme "Fall", but also because this is my favourite vid for the Twelve/Missy pairing. The song choice is prefect for this pair, and the creator chooses clips from all three seasons that they are together. I think the creator does a great job of highlighting the bond between them, and the troubles with their relationship, while also highlighting the tragedy of it all.

It's time for

tardis_library's annual Reccer's Bingo!

Reccer's bingo!
Sign up for a bingo card, rec 1-5 works per square till you achieve a bingo.

The challenge is open from now until midnight in your timezone on Sunday 21st September 2025.

How it works:
1. Sign up for your card in the comments below. You can ask for up to 10 prompts to be excluded from the prompt list. (Feel free to interpret prompts as widely as you please, as long as the works you rec for each square still relate to the prompts in some way. )

2. Post your rec(s) for each square to this community. Please post recs for the same square together in the same post. If you have 3+ recs in one post, please use a cut. (1-5 recs per each prompt min/max.)

Tag each post with "other: seasonal challenge."

3. Continue to post fills until you have achieved a bingo - five squares in a row in any direction, but any recognised bingo pattern comprising 5+ squares is fine, up to and including a Blackout (filling all the squares on your card).

Once you're done, you can claim a brand new card, or use your original card for extras (again, see

hc_bingo link above for examples - e.g. reccing works that meet multiple prompts simultaneously etc.)

Treat recs for extras in the same way as the original bingo squares, with each individual fill/rec/rec set posted to the comm as one post.
