Getting in a quick new Thirteenth Doctor era rec before the month ends! This is literally published yesterday, so it definitely counts as new, besides being from the Thirteen era.
Title: Time and Space and the Bits in Between
Creator:
kesdax
Rating: General Audiences
Word Count/Length/Size: 2788 words
Creator's Summary: “Yaz? Why did your mum think we were seeing each other?”
Characters/Pairings: Thirteenth Doctor/Yasmin Khan. Characters: Thirteenth Doctor, Yasmin Khan, Ryan Sinclair, Graham O'Brien.
Warnings/Notes: Follows S11E04: Arachnids in the UK, so spoilers for that one.
Reasons for reccing: First, the characterizations are awesome, everyone of the new team sounds so delightfully themselves, their interactions are spot on, the Thirteenth Doctor so her, the giddiness and weirdness as well as the more serious, worried, responsible side; and we get a Yaz point of view that builds on what we've seen in the show so far and makes her more fleshed out, as I'm yearning for the show itself to do (though the latest episode gave us more of that and I'm glad for that). Anyway, I maaaaaybe found this because I went to look for Thirteen/Yaz fics about half an hour after I finished watching the episode, and this one totally caught my attention for being really well-written and getting the tone and characterization right, and it just drew me in - and the build-up to the relationship part felt real and believable for the characters. There's so much beautiful TARDIS team interaction and TARDIS exploration that I'm pretty sure you can enjoy it without shipping Thirteen and Yasmin, as long as you're not terribly opposed to it either.
Here's a little snippet from early on, to give you a taste:
“Ah ha!” the Doctor shouted, making both Graham and Ryan jump. Yaz just put on her best disapproving police officer face and folded her arms. “A door! I bet it’s a bedroom. See? Know exactly where I am. Lost.” She shook her head as if she had never heard anything so ridiculous in her life. ( continued under the cut )
