Title: Together, On This Same Earth
Creator: biichan/
biichanRating: Teen And Up Audiences (the rating given on AO3; on Teaspoon it's marked as Adult. I'd rate it Teen or possibly Mature - it's a bit descriptive but not for very long)
Word Count/Length/Size: 3,891 words
Creator's Summary: Once you've started traveling in time and space, things are never quite the same when you stop. Luckily, Victoria's new friend Martha understands this.
Characters/Pairings: Martha Jones/Victoria Waterfield. Also the Tenth Doctor, Polly Wright, Jamie McCrimmon
Warnings/Notes: Well, there's some sexual content involving two women, if you need to be warned of that sort of thing, but it's not super explicit.
Reasons for reccing: This was probably the very first Classic Who fanfic I read, right on the week when the Twitch marathon introduced me to the Second Doctor era and I fell in love with
all the characters. I ended up going to the Teaspoon and seeing if anyone's written Victoria femslash, and when I saw that someone's written her and Martha Jones meeting, I read this, and was officially sucked into the world of fic about the characters of the Second Doctor era. Essentially, Victoria lives her life in the late 1960s England, and meets Martha when she and the Tenth Doctor are stuck in 1969 during 'Blink'. They also run into some other characters who are around in that time period.
Victoria and Martha are both characters whom I adore far beyond how much the fandom on the average loves them, so seeing them paired up, either as friends or lovers, was wonderful for me, and this fic is exquisitely written, gets so much out of both characters. The progression of their relationship from getting to know each other to friendship to something else is lovely. It also touches on how time with the Doctor touches everyone who travels with him, how Victoria and Martha and others have come to view the world, and the timey-wimeyness of having Doctors and Companions from all over the storyline of the show.
It's a beautiful, wistful, but essentially hopeful story.
