Reasons for reccing: This is the sort of bizarre, topsy-turvy, slightly messed-up, very sad romance that only time travel can give you. A post-Time-War Tenth Doctor meets Romana--the one still travelling with his former self. Is it cheating to go out with a future version of your partner behind the current version's back? Regardless of whether you think it is or isn't (the characters aren't sure, either), there's still only one way this can end, and it's sad and beautiful.

One of the things I love about science fiction is how it can make our metaphors literal. Who hasn't thought, in the midst of grief, "If only I could go back, if only I could see them one more time, have one more day with them, say the thing I never said?" This fic explores those longings in a really moving way.

And my favorite aliens kiss each other.

Reasons for reccing: It's a glorious bit of crack (that's also perfectly plausible and in character) and is 100% guaranteed to make your day better, if not Jamie's. If I quoted the funniest or most delightful bits, I'd be pasting half the fic in here. And, with regards to the monthly theme, what greater horror could there truly be than Jamie getting attacked by his own sporran?

Reasons for reccing: I love that this conversation takes place when the Doctor is trying to bust them out of jail. The fic is cheeky and super hilarious, and their voices are just spot on and perfectly in character. I am amused as to why Bill brought up the subject to the Doctor and how the conversation evolved. If you need some cheering up, this fic is perfect for it. Great pacing, tone, and humor will have you grinning ear to ear.

Reasons for reccing: One commenter called this a slice of life fic and I guess for the Doctor and Missy, it is one indeed. Written between seasons eight and nine, it beautifully captures all the complexities of their characters and their relationship at that point. I love the dialogue, which is surprising and spot-on, funny and touching. And I really love this take on Missy, the twisted, possessive affection, the disdain and casual destructiveness, the whimsy and the anger that the Doctor is uniquely able to elicit in her.

Reasons for reccing: Surreal and just a bit disturbing; in the best possible way. To say anything specific about it would be to ruin it, and every time I reread it I feel like I understand it just a bit more. I think it's making some really clever commentary on continuity - although really, it's hard to tell. There is masterful use of symbolism present in pretty much every sentence and it's just really well written on every conceivable level. The first time I read it, I did so very late at night, and when I woke up the next morning, I wasn't entirely sure if it had actually been real or not. Which I feel like is a testament to the skill of the author. Give it a go.

Reasons for reccing: I admit I hadn't realized "noodle incident" was a legit trope before I drew this square for my card, so I ran across this fic while searching for instances of actual noodle incidents. Which it has, though perhaps mercifully not described in detail, as you'll see once you read this delightful story about the predictably (come on, this is fanfic) erotic results of Ten mouthing off to his antagonists once too often. Nos is a reliably funny and hugely talented writer, and if there's anyone in our fandom who's going to be able to pull off a story that includes both figurative and literal noodle incidents, it's her.
