It's also fun - the video makes me want to watch Doctor Who.

Reasons for reccing: For the monthly theme - mostly the fusion half, but it also has quite an interesting manifestation of the Tardis! This tells Amelia's life from before meeting the Doctor to the end of the fifth season, with a daemon who, unlike anyone else's, just won't settle on a form. I love how this uses the daemon concept to give us a look at Amy's feelings, her struggle with growing up and finding out who she is. It has a great little arc and I love the spotlight structure, showing us eight crucial moments along the way.

Summary: Amy and Rory's vacation weekend with the Doctor takes a turn as the TARDIS whisks them away to answer a distress call. They find a disabled cargo ship, its cheery AI, and its pilot who is screaming in pain from no obvious source. Rory must use his nursing skills to keep the pilot alive, Amy must work on her own to fix the ship and the Doctor must rely on the power of his mind to get to the alien entity at the bottom of the mystery--if he can do it without breaking the TARDIS or himself.

Reason for Reccing: The summary above definitely hits the plot points but the execution is really well done. It's like a lost episode between Asylum of the Daleks and Angels Take Manhattan, with visual world-building, imaginative and well-rounded OCs, spot-on dialogue and pace and storytelling, and understands how to put characters in situations that let both their vulnerability and strength come through, while understatedly pointing out how well this TARDIS team complements and relies on each other. Just a gem all around for this era.

Reasons for reccing: This set after the Doctor leaves Amy and Rory back home at the end of "The God Complex" and told from Rory's POV. It's about coming to terms with all the good and especially the bad things they experienced during their time with him, and about being back home, finding a way to shape their life. I really like it because it provides some emotional follow-up that the characters were rarely allowed, anger and guilt and holes in their lives. Given all that, it still isn't dark, though, because it has an ending that is hopeful and warm and just a little bit wise.

They all feel very much like themselves and the story manages to combine a lot of different beats, from funny and nostalgic, over poignant and surprising, to uncanny and sad.

Reasons for reccing: This is a lovely series of fics, an AU where the Eleventh Doctor came back for little Amelia Pond only a few days later, not twelve years later, and took her travelling time and space with him. Some time later they run into post-Children of Earth Jack Harkness, wandering aimlessly and much in need of comfort and a place to belong. The fics in the series offer little scenes from various points in their lives, up until Amelia is about the age we know the canon Series 5 Amy.

Sahiya writes utterly wonderful characterizations of Eleven, Amelia/Amy and Jack, and she's also the queen of Jack/Doctor hurt/comfort, especially Eleven/Jack which there isn't enough of. I've read most of her fics of that type many many times, but this is one of my particular favourites, which also fixes things for kid!Amelia and offers a sweet, occasionally sad but always beautiful found family story for the three of them.

This is for the monthly theme of both Eleventh Doctor era and time, as there's assorted time-related stuff in some of the stories, especially part three: Eddies and Streams, about alternate time streams.
