The alien planet is beautifully described, too. And the epilogue is adorable!

Reasons for reccing: A brilliant and well written crossover that makes both canons feel like they fit together seamlessly. The voices and interactions are spot-on, not just for Janeway and several versions of the Doctor, whose scenes go from serious to funny and back, but also for all the small appearances by companions and Voyager crew members. There's a lot of humour and great timing, and I really like its little meta aspect when it lets Janeway and the Doctor talk about interfering in other peoples' business and travel options.

I did kind of promise to bring more explicit slash on board, among other things. ;-) Anyway, I have a fondness not only for Two/Jamie but also for Jamie getting... involved with other, later Doctors. This my favourite story of that specific type, being fun, feel-good and feeling true to the characters. I loved reading it even before I was at all familiar with Eight, but now that I know him (and Charley) from the audios, it's even more fun.

It's short and simple, but captures a lot of the 'walking-on-broken-eggshells' underside to the lightness of the Eight-Charley relationship, as Charley begins to navigate the possibilities (and impossibities) of what they can be to each other.

This one is an incredibly beautiful image done in the style of old-timey sepia coloured portaits, and they both look fabulous and very in character. With the image style and the period dress, it also counts for the "Historical" theme!

Reasons for reccing: I can't not re-rec this story for this prompt. We don't often see Six just having fun and finding joy & silliness in the universe. Nor any much hint of vulnerability. But this is definitely what it would look like, and Charley Pollard is the companion who would draw it out in all its romantic character. This starts out just as a silly scene, but in the end it takes some vino (okay, absinthe) for Charley to find her veritas--that he's still the man she fell in love with. It's on point in character, dialogue, situation and tone. Funny and poignant and shows a side of Six we always know is there deep down. Just a beautiful story.
