It's delightfully down-played, helped by being from the Doctor's point of view to start with, and then Clara's. And it's great how it equates the Twelfth Doctor's caretaking activities to the First Doctor's kidnapping activities.

Reasons for reccing: Aliens made us do it is my second favourite trope. My favourite is subverting/changing it in some way. I've re-read this fic many times because I really love it. It's interesting to see how Barbara and Ian deal with the situation they're in and their feelings about it. And the ending, which reveals what might be really going on makes the whole thing much more fun.

It has no dialogue, but I didn't notice and I love dialogue more than anything else. You can feel the emotions along with Barbara as the story goes on.

Reasons for reccing: It's a companions meeting story with a twist. Because it's in reverse order it makes it interesting as Sarah knows more about Ian and Barbara to start with and later Ian and Barbara know more about Sarah. It involves exactly the sort of adventures you expect from people travelling with the Doctor. And it's just beautifully written. Everyone's perfectly in character and there's some lovely description to set the tone.
