Title: REGENERATION AS A CHOICE – How the Doctor choosing their faces creates a 2,000-year long character arc

Rating: G
Word Count/Length/Size: around 5000 words, several gifs are used throughout the essay. I wouldn’t recommend opening it up on any slow devices that tend to get overwhelmed.
Creator's Summary: I headcanon that each new face the Doctor gets represents something they subconsciously need or want, and all together their 13 faces form a character arc 2,000 years in the making, as the Doctor wrestled with their own identity.
Characters/Pairing: The Doctor (All Main Canon Doctors: 2-8, War, 9-13)
Warnings/Notes: Spoilers for the entire show, a bulk of the analysis goes to NewWho with the Classic Doctor’s having noticeably less commentary.
Reasons for reccing: This is a really comprehensive analysis on the Doctor’s “2000-year long character arc” and offers some great insight and analysis into the Doctor’s characters. The format of the meta is rather casual with all points being densely made in bullet points, which helps ease understanding of a long history of the Doctor by making each point concisely and quickly regarding the Doctor’s characterization. And the bullet-point format makes the long post so much easier to read, I know I personally struggle with reading long paragraphs due to my ADHD, so while it is a thorough meta it isn’t an intensive one.
