There was a girl from Blackpool. She was an ordinary girl who had a mum and a dad. Her name was Clara. Her mum gave her a book called 101 Places to See, and Clara was going to travel the world. But, after her mum died, Clara stayed to take care of the people she cared about. Clara was a nanny for a while until one day an insightful matchmaker gave her a phone number. That was when she met the Doctor. He said she was an impossible girl and she learned he was impossible too.
Clara became entwined with the Doctor when she went in his time stream to save him. Splinters of her appeared throughout his time line, always trying to help him. She met the Doctor when he was young and told him, “...if you're very wise and very strong, fear doesn't have to make you cruel or cowardly.” They were connected.
"I let Clara Oswald get inside my head."
She became a teacher and met someone, Danny Pink, who was a bit more possible. She tried to put an end to her travels with the Doctor but she couldn’t let him go. Until, Clara lost Danny and the grief led her to try to bring him back through whatever means necessary.
She and the Doctor were unsuccessful in getting Danny back alive. But they both had a tendency to lie, so they lied to each other. She said Danny was alive and he said he found Gallifrey. They couldn't stay away from each other though and Clara threw herself into her adventures with the Doctor. He became her focus.
She learned from the Doctor to always assume she would win. She did win, until the day came that she didn’t, and her recklessness led to her death.
The Doctor spent 4.5 billion years trapped in order to discover who was responsible for Clara’s death. Regardless of consequences, he used Time Lord technology to pull Clara out of her time line right before she died. She had no pulse. He went all the way to the end of the universe but she still had no pulse. She knew she was supposed to be dead. He didn’t want to accept it.
As a sort of atonement for how far he went to save her, breaking his code as the Doctor, he lost his memories of Clara. They had to be separated because together they were too dangerous. He remembered there was a Clara, but all of their time together was gone.
In each other, they found their match. Clever and impossible and full of sass. And both with a lot of things to learn.
When it was time for the Twelfth Doctor to regenerate he didn’t want to. But, he received a gift in the end: Clara was back in his head. He remembered his impossible girl.
