Title: Matrix-Touched
Creator:
FernDavant
Rating: T
Word Count/Length/Size: 4,563 words
Creator's Summary: Susan has nightmares. Or why and how the Doctor left Gallifrey, an in-depth exploration.
Characters/Pairing: Susan Foreman & First Doctor
Warnings/Notes: Pre-Canon, Gallifrey,
Reasons for reccing: This is a really lovely and haunting fic where the writer decides to fill in the blanks and tell us why Susan and the Doctor had to flee Gallifrey all those years ago. I love how the writer chooses to write this fic and the tone they maintain throughout—I think they found a very clever and fitting way of using Susan and the Doctor's names when they don't yet use them through the use of brackets that helps add to the tone. I love the author's characterization of Susan and I feel like this fic adds a new dimension to her character. She and the Doctor were atypical Time Lords and this fic really explores that and how they were isolated and ostracized on Gallifrey. It's a great story that is fantastically told with solid characterization. I think it is a slightly eerie tone that reminds me of the first episode, "An Unearthly Child."
