Bingo! This is my fifth entry for my bingo card: "crossover" -- and coincidentally, it's the monthly theme as well.
Title: New Each Time
Creator: one4sorrow (aka
playing_passerine)
Rating: All ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 585
Creator's Summary: His one constant companion on the last gasp of season one.
Characters/Pairings: Ninth Doctor, Death (the Endless)
Warnings/Notes: None
Reasons for reccing: I love a good crossover with the Sandman universe, and this vignette perfectly captures Death, from her whimsy to her resolute understanding that she has a job to do, and that her role is as essential a part of life as birth itself. She's here to collect the Ninth Doctor, and even if Time Lords have an unusual and impermanent way of dying, as the author says, "In the deepest fibers of their hearts they always knew it was just a lifetime. Just like everyone else." This is a short but lovely story, well worth the few minutes of your time to read even if you've never read any of Gaiman's Sandman series. (But you should. You definitely should.)
