 Title: Gothic Romance
Creator:  vvj5[personal profile] thisbluespirit
Rating: Teen
Word Count/Length/Size: 7514
Creator's Summary: It is a fact universally acknowledged that any beings splintered in time will inevitably run into each other. No law says it has to end well, though…
Characters/Pairings: Clara Oswin Oswald (splinter)/ Scaroth (splinter),   mentions of other characters
Warnings/Notes:  Copying the actual notes: " Warnings for inevitable Clara splinter death and general fake relationship dodginess, although no tentacle pr0n, sadly/thankfully (delete as applicable). I'm sure someone else on the internet will tackle that one eventually, there's a rule..."

Reasons for reccing: Bonus rec for 1979 , when City of Death aired.  This is a fantastic premise. Ever thought about the fact that Clara wasn't the only who got turned into shards? Ever wanted to see a Clara shard in a Gothic style setting? :)  Then here you are.  I love all the little details, and definitely read the coda at the end.

Title: Shelved (or The Whistle Stop Library Tour of the Universe)
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] thisbluespirit
Rating: General
Word Count/Length/Size: 1712
Creator's Summary: The Doctor and Clara show Belle the universe, one library at a time.
Characters/Pairings: Eleventh Doctor, Clara Oswald, Belle (from Once Upon a Time)
Warnings/Notes: Mild Crossover pairings?

But (as far as this reader can tell) no major spoilers , but a little canon divergent

Reasons for reccing:  For Rec Bingo.  Wild Card (using Crossover) .   This is a fun read,  and the crossover works very well.  The bonding between these three is IC and feels like something 11 would do to cheer someone up

Title: Matters of Tea
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] shopfront
Rating: G
Word Count/Length/Size: 1780 words
Creator's Summary: When Clara needs someone to talk to, she turns to the smartest person she knows. Other than the Doctor, of course. Not that he’d be much help for matters of the heart, anyway.
Characters/Pairings: Clara Oswald/Jane Austen, mentions of Clara Oswald/Lady Me | Ashildr
Warnings/Notes: None.

Reasons for reccing: For the "Date" square on my bingo card, this is a date in both senses, as Clara meets up with Jane Austen and gets the date a little wrong (although that's nothing she can't fix). It's sweet, short and lively with a side-order of entertaining timey-wimeyness, as Clara goes to Jane for advice - and flirting, of course.

Creator's Summary: When Clara needs someone to talk to, she turns to the smartest person she knows. Other than the Doctor, of course. Not that he’d be much help for matters of the heart, anyway.
Characters/Pairings: Clara Oswald, Jane Austen; pairings:
Jane Austen/Clara Oswin Oswald, pre-Ashildr | Lady Me/Clara Oswin Oswald
Notes: Post-S9 for Clara's timeline

Reasons for reccing: Another new story for the monthly theme, via Femslash Exchange, and it's utterly adorable. It has cheerfulness reminiscent of many Austen novels which is well suited for how you could imagine these two to interact. There's also some time travel shenanigans, a TARDIS with a working Chameleon Circuit, and a delightful feel of background madcap adventures while Clara and Jane Austen are civilly (more or less) discussing matters of the heart and tea. Clara and Jane's relationship is described in a mischievously coy manner which implies a great deal without directly showing much, and fits them entirely. The contrast between Jane's, well, Austenian manner of speaking and Clara's modern, Clara-esque speech is lovely and appropriate.

I had the pleasure of reading this one early ie. beta-reading it, but I would find it delightful even without this connection. I don't even normally read a lot of Clara fic, because it varied a great deal how well canon Clara worked for me and so the same goes for fic, but this story captures those sides of Clara that I loved, and it makes me think I should maybe look for more fic after all. Especially if it involves Jane Austen.
