I read this fic a while ago, but I forgot all about it until I got my bingo card and saw “Historical” and remembered this brilliant little gem that I read a couple of months ago.

Title: Not Lost, Only Forgotten
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] hetzi_clutch
Rating: T
Word Count/Length/Size: 95,077 words, 23 chapters
Creator's Summary: It happened after a funny incident, which couldn't even be called hair-raising.

The Doctor caught a glimpse of someone, turned, and ran. So they followed. And when they got back to the TARDIS, she was acting strangely, demanding to know if they'd been seen. Piloting back to Sheffield, though none of them asked to return. And then she neatly kicked them out and vanished, leaving Yaz, Graham, and Ryan to return to their incredibly dull lives, wondering what on earth they'd done wrong.

Until, a month later, the TARDIS came back.

Without the Doctor.
(Human Nature AU. Story is completed, and chapters will be posted every few days!)
Characters/Pairing: Thirteenth Doctor/Yasmin Khan
Warnings/Notes: period-typical sexism

Reasons for reccing: “The Family of Blood” is one of my absolute favorite Doctor Who episodes. The romance between Joan Redfern and John Smith was incredibly sad when it came time for John Smith to say goodbye and for the Doctor to return, this fic explores that through another angle with Yasmin falling in love the Doctor’s human camouflage Mae Smith. The romance between these two is really genuine and heartfelt, making the Doctor’s return a painfully bittersweet moment for Yaz.
