Title: Save the Date
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] astrogirl
Rating: Gen
Word Count/Length/Size: 1,811 words
Creator's Summary: The Brigadier has quite a few messages on his answering machine today. And all of them are from the same person. Well, more or less.
Characters/Pairings: Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, Doris Lethbridge-Stewart, Third Doctor, Fourth Doctor, Fifth Doctor, Sixth Doctor, Seventh Doctor
Warnings/Notes: none

Reasons for reccing: The Brigadier, retired and just returned from a holiday, finds a lot of messages from the Doctor on his answering machine. This was written for the "Unsent Letters" exchange in 2022 and the concept is just great, super well executed, and so much fun to read. Lovely and hilarious.

(It is set sometime after the Seventh Doctor episode "Battlefield" - from the Brigadier's point of view, anyway! - which means it technically takes place in 1989, BUT, since that year is already covered, I'm submitting it for 1968, the year when one Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart first appeared. Also fits this month's multi-era theme!)

Title: There, In That Place
Creator: Mandragora
Rating: All Ages
Word Count/Length/Size: 1098
Creator's Summary: Just a place to call their own.
Characters/Pairings: Seventh Doctor, Roz Forrester
Warnings/Notes: References to canonical character death.

Reasons for reccing: For 1995, the year when Roz Forrester and Chris Cwej arrived in the New Adventures. This is a beautifully written, evocative sequence of vignettes exploring the Doctor's time with Roz, and his grief at her loss.

Title: Three Interviews the Brigadier Gave (And One He Didn’t)
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] BerylGrey | [tumblr.com profile] seekingthespheres
Rating: G
Word Count/Length/Size: 1807 words
Creator's Summary: It took a few tries for The Brigadier to find a suitable assistant for the Doctor after Liz Shaw left.
Characters/Pairings: Third Doctor, the Brigadier, original characters
Warnings/Notes: none (unless maybe mild period-typical sexism in hiring)

Reasons for reccing:
For 1971 and the introduction of Miss Jo Grant, a look at three of UNIT’s less successful hires…

Written as a fill for my prompt, "Did UNIT try any other new assistants for the Doctor in between Liz and Jo? Did any of them last longer than a day?"

This is set just before Jo’s arrival and I think is extremely plausible context—both for the Doctor’s skepticism of a new assistant and for how quickly he becomes putty in her hands. It’s also hilarious!
