Creator's Summary: Small watercolor paintings based on screencaps from the Doctor Who episode Deep Breath (Series 8, episode 1) / Listen (Series 8, episode 4).
Reasons for reccing: These are more realistic than comic in style, brilliantly capturing everyone's likeness (with watercolours! so impressed) and once again have such a great use of colour. I love the choice of scenes - Twelve on the roof in his nightgown, his intense look after the confrontation with Half-Face Man from Deep Breath, the barn moment (okay, thinking about it, technically not Twelve in this case...), and the otherworldly atmosphere of their trip to the future in Listen.

I don't actually know the corresponding Big Finish stories, but I completely adore JohannesVIII's beautiful watercolour fanart for this trio, particularly C'rizz, and wanted to rec a couple of favourites. I love the comic style and the fantastic use of colours, and all the ideas are very cute and expressive and made me smile.

Reasons for reccing: Starting the week with one of my favourite Twelve drawings: Autumn!Twelve a.k.a. Grumpy-Punk!Twelve. :-D The autumn colours are beautiful and it's done with a wonderfully light touch, yet every detail is on point and makes me smile: Twelve's clothes (checkered trousers and scarf!), his guitar, the expression on his face and his whole body language, the swirling leaves around him. So much personality and fun energy in this.

Creator's Summary: Last month’s big project for me was something very special. The two people portraying the Tenth Doctor and the Thirteenth Doctor/Rose are Ryan Jones and Essay Hood. He always cosplayed Ten and she was always Rose… but Ryan, unfortunately, passed too soon. Shortly thereafter, Jodie Whittaker was announced as Thirteen and Essay looks SO much like her. It was like Ryan was reaching out and saying “It’s okay. YOU’RE the Doctor now.” So when I saw the comic cover (originally drawn by Giorgia Sposito and Arianna Florean), I wanted to paint it as Ryan and Essay because it was like they were reaching across the time streams to find each other. The second painting is based on a photo by Bryan Humphrey. They may be my favorite couple I’ve never met. ^_^

Reasons for reccing: For the monthly theme of epic - this fits it in several ways! The artist has embarked an on epic project to create a poster for every televised Doctor Who story (and some of the audios for Eight and the War Doctor), and there's an epic feel to many of the pieces, too. It was hard to choose which one to rec here as there are a whole lot I love already, done in different styles, but where better to begin than at the beginning? And this might be my favourite piece so far. I love the composition, with all the negative space and the careful use of colour. It really does manage to signify the start of a truly epic adventure, and the hope that goes with the Doctor and the TARDIS.

Clara's maple leaf amongst the falling feathers, the two things symbolizing the beginning and the end of her story, while the Doctor is caged in by his grief for her and by his desire to change death.

Creator's Summary: This artwork was my contribution to the fanzine about the 12th Doctor and Clara Oswald for the benefit of One to One Children’s Fund.

My intention was to create a farewell scene between Clara and 12th in which they shared a long moment together in the last place where they were (I was dissatisfied with the farewell of the Christmas episode).

That’s why I painted a warm scene. A beautiful moment between two good companions. I hope you like it!

Reasons for reccing: I really like these scene here and I agree with the creator that this would have been a better farewell scene between the Doctor and Clara as they meant so much to each other. I love the diner setting, and even though the doctor is regenerating, he's smiling while in Clara's presence. It's really a beautiful artwork too, with great character portraits, color and lighting.
