Reasons for reccing: The Brigadier, retired and just returned from a holiday, finds a lot of messages from the Doctor on his answering machine. This was written for the "Unsent Letters" exchange in 2022 and the concept is just great, super well executed, and so much fun to read. Lovely and hilarious.
(It is set sometime after the Seventh Doctor episode "Battlefield" - from the Brigadier's point of view, anyway! - which means it technically takes place in 1989, BUT, since that year is already covered, I'm submitting it for 1968, the year when one Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart first appeared. Also fits this month's multi-era theme!)

I'd really prefer the connection to come through the show rather than a random thing (like the date the fanwork was published, or the song in the vid came out etc etc - I've been having to alter my instructions because I never thought of people coming up with those). But since this is not only a multi-era fic with therefore endless possibilities, but a lovely celebration of the Brigadier, may I suggest for you 1968, the year the character first appeared? Or, should it get taken, 1969, when he was promoted to Brig and got UNIT, but he'd count for 1970-1975, 1983, 1989, 2011 and whatever year it was he appeared on SJA just on his own, plus any book appearances, so you can pretty much take your pick!!
